Pieve Fosciana Livestock Exhibition

On the occasion of the traditional feast of Freedom of Pieve Fosciana from 14 to 16 April, the regional association of Breeders of Lucca organizes in collaboration with the municipality of Pieve Fosciana and the Garfagnana, the Common Union III provincial Exhibition ovine breed White and the Garfagnana II exhibition "Garfagnanalleva".

The livestock show wants to highlight the work done by farmers and institutions for the recovery and protection from extinction of the local breed Garfagnana White but at the same time submit also other breeds reared in Garfagnana and products derived from these. Besides sheep, besides Garfagnana 60 heads and massese, will be in the exhibition even goats of Controneria, cattle breed Garfagnana, Characterized, Frisian and Brown, horses, donkeys and mules, Cinta Senese pigs and rabbits. The exhibition area, which also includes a review of agricultural machinery, vintage and modern, is placed in Via della Cough; where will present also a covered area for animal products, crafts and a photographic exhibition. For schools there are educational workshops on how to make cheese and bread, sheep shearing, milking the cows and sheep, to know the horse.

As every year hundreds and hundreds of fans descend from the first hours of the day on streams and lakes where since last October in order to respect the delicate reproductive moment was prohibited all forms of fishing.
