The Sanctuary of Maria Santissima della Stella near Migliano, a locality of the Municipality of Fosciandora, is mentioned in a Bull of Pope Alexander III of 1167. In 1662 were carried out extension and renovation works on the ruins of the ancient church, but in 1785 there were just ruins and a few perimeter walls of the ancient Oratory. In 1798, hammering on a wall to build a new lemon house, the fresco of the Virgin came to light and so the new owners, the Raffaelli family, decided to build a Sanctuary, which was inaugurated by Mons. Francesco Maria Zoppi, Bishop of the Diocese of Massa-Carrara in July 1827.
