The Lake of Gramolazzo is a hydroelectric basin built in the 1950s, with a dam on the course of the Serchio di Gramolazzo River, the Apuan branch of the river that forms the Garfagnana valley. It also collects the waters of the Acqua Bianca stream that comes from the village of Gorfigliano and feeds the underlyning power station “Fabbriche”, which in turn pours the waters into the Lake of Vagli. It occupies an area of about 1 sq km and thanks to the beauty of the landscape that surrounds it, to the gentle and sandy shores, equipped for bathing, to its abundance of fish, it is certainly the most frequented lake of the valley: here a campsite with boat and canoe rental, hotels, bars, restaurants, electric bike rental, picnic areas and a beautiful lakeside promenade.
The Monte Pisanino, the highest mountain of the Apuan Alps chain reflects itself in the waters of the lake and this alone worth a visit to this wonderful place.
