The road, leading from Gallicano towards the village of Fornovolasco and the Grotta del Vento, runs through a narrow gorge carved by the course of the stream Turrite di Gallicano. The Trombacco or Gangheri dam is soon after the bridge over the Fogliaio canal.

The name of Trombacco is due to the small inhabited center, which was submerged by the construction of the dam. The lake is very enclosed and its view covered by luxuriant vegetation, but it is possible to discover it from a very particular point of view, turning it in a canoe. The Adventure Park Levigliese, a little further on, offers the canoa rental service, as well as many other outdoor activities.
