Garfagnana valley lies in the north area of the Province of Lucca, and is crossed lengthways by S.R. 445 road which connects it to the south with Altopascio and Lucca motorway exits (A. 11 Firenze-Mare) and to the north with Aulla and A 15 Motorway (Parma – La Spezia).
Other connections are: to the west, the Cippolaio tunnel on the Arni Provincial road which connects with Versilia, or Monte Pelato tunnel (Passo del Vestito) which connects to Massa.
To the east, the Pradarena Pass which connects with Reggio Emilia and Radici Pass to Modena.
From Bagni di Lucca, the Porretana State Road which connects with Bologna (A. 1 Sasso Marconi exit)
The valley is also reachable by public transports such as bus and train. From Castelnuovo di Garfagnana it is possible to reach the little closeby villages by bus.
